Archer, Hayne to referee Origin III
Leading whistleblowers Tony Archer and Shane Hayne have been reunited to control next week's State of Origin decider at Suncorp Stadium.
Having officiated in one game each so far this series, Archer and Hayne - the NRL's two most experienced referees - will both be on the field together for what could be the most keenly contested Origin match in years.
Archer and Hayne combined to referee all six Origin games in 2009 and 2010 before a change in policy ahead of this year's series with Jared Maxwell and Ben Cummins blooded in the opening two games.
Archer and Maxwell refereed the series opener before Hayne and Cummins combined for game two in Sydney, which NSW won 18-8.
"Tony and Shane are our two most senior referees and in the past few weeks they have also been our best-performed referees, which is why they have earned selection for what will be one of the biggest Origin matches in recent memory," NRL referees coach Bill Harrigan said.
