Cronulla re-sign Kelly until 2014
Cronulla have received a boost, re-signing rising star Albert Kelly for another three years, a deal that will keep him at the NRL club until the end of 2014.
The 20-year-old cousin of Test centre Greg Inglis impressed after starting the season at five-eighth before breaking his leg in round seven.
His attacking spark has been missed by the Sharks, who are looking to strengthen their squad for 2012 and replace departing props Luke Douglas and Kade Snowden.
With around half their squad off-contract, coach Shane Flanagan signalled earlier this year that many players were playing for their futures.
Flanagan said Kelly's signing was a priority.
"Albert is an exciting young talent and a potential superstar ... his signing is a massive boost for the club," Flanagan said.
"He's young and unpredictable, and his start to the season really indicates that."
Former Australian schoolboys representative Kelly made his NRL debut at fullback last year.
He is hopeful of being back in action in the round 15 clash with Canterbury.
"I'm over the moon to get the deal done," Kelly said.
"It's a massive weight off my shoulders and I can now just concentrate on footy and getting my leg right for a speedy return.
"Sharks fans should be excited because I think we're going to hit our straps soon and with a few more games under our belts and some of the boys coming back from injury, I think we can really rattle the competition."
