Smith named Sharks halfback
Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan has handed Tim Smith the Sharks No.7 jumper just days after the playmaker was fined by police for loitering outside a nightclub.
Smith was called up to the club's NRL squad to replace five-eighth Albert Kelly, who was ruled out for eight weeks with a fractured leg.
He beat out Scott Porter for the right to partner Wade Graham at the scrumbase for Friday night's vital clash against South Sydney at ANZ Stadium.
Smith, who has been playing alongside Porter in the NSW Cup, was on Saturday night handcuffed and taken away by police and later fined $550 for remaining in the vicinity of a licensed premises after being refused entry to a Cronulla nightspot.
The Sharks have also included Isaac Gordon at fullback to replace Nathan Gardner, who is expected to be out for a fortnight with an ankle ligament injury.
