Brett Sheehan re-signs with Force
Western Force scrumhalves Brett Sheehan and James Stannard have re-signed with the Perth-based franchise for another Super Rugby season.
Sheehan, a former Wallaby with three Test caps to his name, has started every game this season, while Stannard has provided valuable back-up from the bench.
"Everyone at the club is on the same page and we are building towards something good here," Sheehan said.
"I can see the direction we want to go and the positive progress we're making. That was why I wanted to stay."
Sheehan notched four caps for the Reds and 46 for the Waratahs before moving to Perth in time for the 2010 season.
The 31-year-old will be up against his former side in Saturday night's clash with the Waratahs at Sydney Football Stadium.
"I've been very impressed with Brett's contribution to the team this year," Force coach Richard Graham said.
"He cares deeply about the team doing well and his combative style adds a unique dimension.
"I believe he is playing better now than at the time he was selected for the Wallabies."
Stannard played a starring role for the national sevens team in the World Series and the Commonwealth Games, where he picked up a silver medal.
"James is working hard to establish himself at this level and is gaining confidence with each outing," Graham said.
"He is a very good team man and it was an easy decision for me at the end of the day to offer him another year at the club."
Twenty-one-year-old scrumhalf Justin Turner is still on the comeback trail from knee surgery but is expected to make his playing return next season.
