Magpies' Thomas wants decision soon
Collingwood star Dale Thomas says he wants to have his AFL future sorted out by mid-season.
The Greater Western Sydney target, who comes out of contract this year, said Gold Coast's uncompetitive AFL start decreased the appeal of joining the Giants for their debut season, but the option still had to be considered.
"Any player would like to be a one-club player, but at the end of the day when offers are on the table, all players must consider them," Thomas told the Nine Network's AFL Footy Show.
"Hopefully for everyone involved the right scenario does play out, which hopefully would be me staying at Collingwood.
"But as I say, until I've signed on the dotted line there will be speculation."
Having worked hard to be part of a premiership with the Magpies last season and with the club hot favourites to go back-to-back, Thomas said even a big-money offer from the Giants would make that hard to leave.
"Whether or not you do throw away the success for what would be starting out fresh and working a side up, they're all things we have to consider," he said of himself and fellow Collingwood poaching target Scott Pendlebury.
"There's more to life than money and in football it's all about winning premierships."
He said ideally he would have made a decision before the Magpies' round 13 bye.
"Either way, it would be nice to get it out of the way," Thomas said.
"The club's bigger than me, where I play or what I do, so I think everyone needs to remember that.
"If I can get it out of the way sooner rather than later, I'd be happy to."
