Brown to lead Lions cubs into battle
Lions skipper Jonathan Brown will play his first game of 2011 when he lines up in the Brisbane forward line against Fremantle on Saturday night.
Brown missed the entire AFL pre-season, but has overcome surgery and a knee infection and trained well this week to be named at full-forward at the Gabba.
The Lions will head into the season-opener with two fresh faces after mature-age recruit Rohan Bewick and Ryan Lester, 18, each earned a senior call-up.
The pair impressed in the club's pre-season hitouts to work their way into the 22.
West Perth-product Bewick, a hard-running on-baller, and 191cm utility Lester, who has played mainly as a forward in the pre-season, were both named on the interchange bench.
Fellow youngster Jesse O'Brien, 20, was another to have impressed in the pre-season to earn a second senior game.
