Committee to discuss Ayoub's future
The future of NRL player agent Sam Ayoub will be discussed at a meeting of the Rugby League Accredited Player Agent Scheme (RLAPAS) committee on March 17 in Sydney.
Ayoub and former player John Elias were arrested on Thursday and charged with attempting to obtain financial advantage by deception.
They were granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on April 7.
Detectives from the NSW Crime Command's Casino and Racing Investigation Unit have been examining suspicious betting on an NRL clash between the Bulldogs and North Queensland last year.
The incident involved a plunge on a betting option that the first points of the game would come from a penalty goal.
Geoff Bellew SC, chairman of the RLAPAS committee, was sure Ayoub's situation would be discussed at the meeting, but refused to speculate if any action would be taken immediately.
The committee is independent of the NRL and has the power to stand Ayoub down under a fit and proper persons clause in its code of ethics.
Tandy was stood down by the Bulldogs after he was charged by police last month with giving false evidence during a probe into an alleged betting scam.
The 29-year-old pleaded not guilty at Downing Street Central Court in Sydney on Thursday.
"I would expect someone to raise it at our meeting on March 17," Bellew told AAP.
"No doubt if any committee member thinks it should be dealt with more urgently, then the committee will convene in the interim.
"I am just one member of the committee and I am the independent chairman at that, so I cannot say too much on the matter, but it is not something that we have come across before."
The committee comprises of Rugby League Players Association representatives David Garnsey and Ben Bana, NRL representative Martin Meredith, Australian Schools Rugby League representative Bruce Wallace and player agents Wayne Beavis and Peter Tracey.
