Cale Morton out for eight weeks
Melbourne midfielder Cale Morton will miss up to eight weeks of football after injuring his finger.
The midfielder ruptured the flexor tendon in his left ring finger during training on Wednesday at AAMI Park.
It is likely he will have surgery this week to repair the tendon.
Morton was limited to 10 AFL matches last year after missing the opening eight rounds through injury.
The Demons have a string of players out of action for the opening matches of the NAB Cup starting on Friday including Robert Campbell (achilles), Jack Fitzpatrick (foot), James Frawley (pectoral muscle), Nathan Jones (back soreness), Jordie McKenzie (groin soreness), Michael Newton (wrist), Ricky Petterd (hamstring) and Matthew Warnock (ankle).
Tom Scully has knee soreness and there are question marks about whether he will play.
