Physio wins appeal over blood ban
A former rugby physiotherapist who was stripped of his medical licence for his part in a fake blood injury scam has won an appeal in Britain's High Court.
It overturned the sanction imposed on Steph Brennan by the Health Professions Council in September.
His lawyers successfully argued the penalty was too severe and the court ordered the HPC to reconsider the case.
The former Harlequins physiotherapist admitted to five instances of faking blood injuries to players dating back to the 2005-06 season.
The highest-profile case involved Harlequins winger Tom Williams in a European Cup quarterfinal match against Leinster in April 2009.
Brennan is currently serving a two-year ban from rugby.
