Slipper a good fit for Wallabies
The Wallabies' midweek victory over club side Leicester is unlikely to influence the naming of the Australian side to take on England at Twickenham this weekend.
Prop James Slipper and flanker Matt Hodgson were the standouts in the 26-15 win, with Scott Higginbotham, Peter Hynes and Lachie Turner also impressive in patches.
Slipper could put pressure on starting props Ben Alexander and Benn Robinson but is likely to again be named on the bench, while Turner should retain his reserves spot.
A hard-nosed captain's knock from Berrick Barnes will see him named again on the Wallabies bench.
The Australians are injury free, with hooker Stephen Moore set to return from a back niggle on Saturday (Sunday morning AEDT).
The selection x-factor is former starting hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau, who has returned to full training with the Wallabies since his call-up to the squad earlier this week.
He is not realistically expected to play until, at earliest, Australia's match against Irish side Munster next Tuesday.
Barnes said the midweek game, played in cold and at times wet conditions, was a good lesson in how to play rugby in the UK.
"It's a different style of football here," he said.
"You can't automatically think you're going to be able to throw it around completely, it just depends obviously on conditions.
"It took us a while to adapt and probably too long."
Barnes was also convinced the dimensions in Leicester had played a part in the feisty nature of the contest.
"That's a pretty tight field you play there on at Welford Road," he said.
"I don't know what pool table rules are but they're not the right size, I tell you.
"It makes for a pretty combative contest."
Wallabies coach Robbie Deans names his side at 1pm local time (000 Friday AEDT).
