Injured Morris may play for Bulldogs
Defender Dale Morris is a very good chance to play in Saturday's AFL preliminary final against St Kilda, according to Western Bulldogs assistant coach Paul Williams.
Morris trained with the Bulldogs on Tuesday at Whitten Oval and is awaiting a final medical clearance to play after suffering what was thought to be a season-ending back fracture in round 21 against the Swans in Sydney last month.
"No word yet. We're pretty confident, the way he's moving," Williams told reporters on Tuesday.
"He trained Friday last week and pulled up pretty well.
"We're confident everything's moving in the right direction.
"He's champing at the bit. He's not the best of spectators.
"He's just really looking forward to having a crack at the Saints on Saturday night.
"I think that he's a very, very good chance to play.
"He's a very important player for us."
Williams said young debutant forward Andrew Hooper, who kicked an important goal in the Bulldogs' comeback against Sydney in last week's semi-final, could possibly be the unlucky player to make way for the former All-Australian Morris.
