The loser of Friday night's Geelong-St Kilda qualifying final will play again next Friday in the second semi-final in Melbourne, the AFL has announced.

While the winner of Friday night's MCG game gets a week off en route to the preliminary finals, the loser will host the winner of Saturday's elimination final between Fremantle and Hawthorn.

Next Friday's game will be at Etihad Stadium if Fremantle are involved, or at the MCG if it features two Victorian teams.

In next week's other semi-final, the loser of Saturday night's Collingwood-Western Bulldogs qualifying final will play the winner of Sunday's Sydney-Carlton elimination final on Saturday September 11 at the MCG.
