Malaysian parakeet predicts Spain WC win
Fortune-telling parakeet Meena Kutti in Malaysia has joined Paul the octopus in predicting a victory for Spain in the World Cup final on Sunday, a media report says.
The eight-year-old green parakeet usually predicts customers' fortunes in business and life but recently punters have asked her for match tips, the New Straits Times newspaper reported.
When asked about the World Cup winner, Meena immediately chose a tiny envelope stating "La Furia Roja," The Red Fury, it said.
"Meena is one-of-a-kind and is always accurate in her predictions," her owner MC Mohan told the newspaper.
Mohan, who has practiced parrot fortune-telling for more than 25 years, said he bought the bird from India for 600 ringgit ($A216) and has since been offered more than 1000 ringgit ($A353) for her but has refused to sell.
Octopus Paul and Mani, a Singapore-based parakeet, have been all the rage since making a string of correct predictions on match winners.
Paul has picked Spain as the World Cup champion. Mani predicted the Dutch would win on Sunday by creeping out of his wooden cage and choosing between two cards that bore the two nations' flags.
