Del Bosque to stay on as Spain coach

Vicente del Bosque will stay on as Spain coach even if he fails to lead the pre-tournament World Cup favorite past the opening round.

Spanish federation president Angel Villar Mar says that "whatever happens at the World Cup, Del Bosque will continue as coach."

Spain lost its opener 1-0 to Switzerland and the European champion needs victory over Honduras at Ellis Park on Monday to boost its chances of advancing from Group H.

Del Bosque is contracted until after the 2012 European Championship and has won 25 of 27 games since replacing Luis Aragones after Euro 2008.

Villar Mar added that "it's not a disaster if we don't get out of the first phase."
