Folau not on Carr's agenda
ARL chief executive Geoff Carr says Israel Folau's State of Origin eligibility is not on his agenda ahead of a specially convened board meeting on Thursday.
Warring parties from both the NSWRL - of which Carr is also general manager - and the QRL will come together in Brisbane on Thursday to discuss ongoing issues with the implementation of the NRL's independent commission.
The extraordinary meeting was scheduled before the drama of the last fortnight in which Carr labelled Queensland's decision to select Folau for Wednesday night's Origin II in Brisbane a "disgrace".
Carr is adamant Folau should have been overlooked after signing a multi-million deal to be the face of new AFL franchise Greater Western Sydney from next season.
Carr said he would look at implementing rules to prevent Folau being picked for the series finale at the next ARL board meeting but he admitted talks this week would focus on the independent commission.
"I'm not even sure whether Israel will come up ... we're down to have a special meeting on the commission," Carr told AAP on Monday.
"That's not to say it won't come up, but at this stage I'm not going to commit that it will."
The QRL, who in selecting Folau backflipped on earlier comments from officials that the Brisbane flyer had played his last Origin match, will oppose any moves to sanction the giant winger for game three.
Queensland argue any ban would not hold up to a legal challenge but Carr said there were provisions in the rules to snub Folau at the selection table.
"You can always argue restraint of trade and these things but the other issue that we've got is that the league has got a convention that if you're not eligible for Australia that you shouldn't be picked at Origin," Carr said.
"Izzy won't be eligible for Australia at the end of the year."
