Weepu passed fit for Sydney
Hurricanes halfback Piri Weepu has been cleared of a serious ankle injury and will play against the Waratahs in Friday's virtual Super 14 rugby quarterfinal in Sydney.
Weepu put a scare through the camp on Wednesday when he limped out of training and was sent for a medical assessment.
But tests revealed only bruising and a Hurricanes spokesman said on Thursday there was no doubt that Weepu would play.
The Hurricanes have their captain's run before flying to Sydney on Thursday afternoon.
No decision had yet been made on the bracketed players on the bench, the spokesman said.
Midfielder Jason Kawau was bracketed with Willie Ripia, with Kawau still being monitored after suffering a head knock in their win over the Reds.
