Staying in NRL still an option: Folau
Brisbane star Israel Folau hasn't ruled out staying in the NRL or even staying with the Broncos, despite letting a two year option with the club lapse for seasons 2011-12.
Speaking to Channel 7 news, Folau said he is weighing up offers from the Broncos, the Melbourne Rebels Super rugby side and the AFL's Greater Western Sydney franchise.
Brisbane CEO Bruno Cullen and leading figures in the game have said they were resigned to losing Folau from rugby league once he failed to take up the option on his Broncos contract, however Folau stressed he hadn't ruled anything out.
"To be quite honest I've got a few options up my sleeve and I really haven't made my mind up. Rugby league's still an option as well as staying with the Broncos, so I haven't given that up," Folau said.
The Queensland Origin and Test star confirmed there is interest from AFL team GWS.
"They were interested, and I haven't really spoken to them that much," he said.
Folau's deliberation about switching codes may cost him an Australian Test jumper when the team is announced on Sunday, but the giant outside back said that isn't a concern.
"If I do get picked I'd be more than happy but otherwise I'm not worried about that at the moment," he said.
