Six Swans newcomers picked for round one
Sydney coach Paul Roos is confident his untried three-pronged strike force will fire in Saturday's opening round clash with AFL heavyweights St Kilda at ANZ Stadium.
Roos revealed six players would make their Sydney debut in the game, with speedy first round draft pick Lewis Jetta named alongside five players recruited during trade week.
Full forward Daniel Bradshaw, ruckmen Mark Seaby and Shane Mumford and former Hawthorn midfielders Ben McGlynn and Josh Kennedy will all play in round one.
Roos said Sydney's other first round draft pick Gary Rohan was unlucky not to make the 22, along with 2005 premiership player Paul Bevan and young defender Nick Smith, who entrenched himself in the side in the second half of last season.
Former Brisbane premiership-winning forward Bradshaw, who missed the entire pre-season with a knee injury, will join dual Brownlow medallist Adam Goodes and exciting youngster Jesse White in a new-look forward line following the departures of Barry Hall and Michael O'Loughlin.
Roos wasn't concerned their total lack of time together would result in confusion come Saturday night.
"I think they complement each other, they are all quite different types of players and they are pretty versatile," Roos told reporters on Thursday.
"I don't think any of them rely specifically on one part of their game.
"I think they will work really well together. At times they run into each other, but I rather that than the ball hit the deck or St Kilda mark it.
"Braddy is a really experienced player, he's played with Alastair Lynch and Jonathan Brown as the third tall (at Brisbane).
"It's a similar roll to Mick (O'Loughlin) played last year (when) we had Goodesy, Jesse and Mick."
Roos estimated Bradshaw would probably play for about 80 minutes on Saturday.
He said Rohan needed to get his fitness up while Jetta was still fresh after four pre-season games.
Jetta, 20, declared he was feeling relaxed and not the slightest bit nervous at the prospect of making his debut at such a "huge" stadium.
"I usually get nervous after the game, so no nerves going in," Jetta told reporters.
Already renowned for his speedy crowd pleasing ball carries, Jetta is primed to produce more of the same against the Saints.
"I'll just run with the ball, that's about it, just play my game," Jetta said.
Roos said Jetta would probably start on the bench.
"He's been doing that in the pre-season and he's been doing it well, but it's not a case that I want to protect him at all," Roos said.
Roos said West Coast premiership player Seaby would probably start in the ruck ahead of Mumford due to having had a bit more game time than the ex-Geelong big man.
Notoriously slow starters, Sydney did start their pre-season a few weeks ahead of losing 2009 grand finalist St Kilda, but Roos doubted that will advantage his team.
