Swans coach says Pyke set for recall
Sydney coach Paul Roos says he is leaning towards bringing in ruckman Mike Pyke for Sunday's AFL clash against reigning premiers Geelong at Skilled Stadium.
The 26-year-old Canadian rugby international is expected to replace Mark Seaby in the Swans line-up after the former West Coast ruckman was ruled out for three months with an ankle injury.
Pyke, who is listed at 200cm and 104kg, played eight games for the Swans last year and was something of a novelty act after making such a rapid transition from rugby.
Roos thought it was in his side's best interests to get Pyke up and running with Seaby out for such a large chunk of the home and away season.
"We are leaning towards Pykey to be honest because it is a 12-week injury," said Roos.
"Pykey has been in really good form but we don't have to rush into any of those decisions.
"We just think that he has improved significantly so that is a big part of it."
The Swans lead the competition on percentage from Collingwood, St Kilda and Fremantle with the Cats just one win behind on the ladder.
