Northampton book Euro spot with Cup win
Northampton booked a European Cup place for next season when they defeated Gloucester 30-24 on Sunday in the final of the Anglo-Welsh Cup.
Saints' win was secured through tries by prop Soane Tonga'uiha, centre James Downey and halfback Lee Dickson.
First five-eighth Stephen Myler's 100 per cent goalkicking produced 15 points while opposite number Nicky Robinson kicked 14 points, including the conversion of a penalty try, while flanker Akapusi Qera also touched down.
Sunday's victory could also be the first part of treble this season with Northampton facing a European Cup quarter-final against Munster on April 10 while they are also just two points behind Premiership leaders Leicester.
"Cup finals are all about winning. You would take 3-0 in a final, but it is more encouraging when you can go out and play like that," said Northampton coach Jim Mallinder.
"There were two teams who wanted to play rugby, and I thought it was a good advert for the game."
