Brumbies snare prop Palmer from 'Tahs
The Brumbies have signed young NSW Waratahs tighthead prop Dan Palmer for next two Super rugby seasons.
Palmer, 21, has played eight Super 14 matches for the Waratahs in the 2008 and 2009 but he has not played this season as he's been behind Wallabies Benn Robinson, Al Baxter and Sekope Kepu.
"The direction the Brumbies are heading in was a key consideration for me as was putting myself in a position where I could play some regular rugby, said Palmer of his move south to Canberra next season.
"As a footballer, you want to be playing football."
Palmer faces similarly tough competition to break into the team at the Brumbies where Ben Alexander, Guy Shepherdson and Salesi Maafu hold down the prop spots.
However Brumbies coach Andy Friend saw Palmer as a player with a big future.
"Dan is one of the highest regarded front row prospects in the country at the moment," said Friend.
"Even at 21, he's already one of the best technical props in Australia and if he continues to develop his current rate then there's no question he'll realise his potential.
"While he's only had limited Super 14 game time, he's already shown that even at such a young age in prop years, he's very capable at mixing it with the best.
