Matfield cleared of striking Elsom
Bulls captain Victor Matfield has been cleared of foul play during the Super 14 champions' 50-32 victory over the ACT Brumbies.
Matfield was cited for allegedly striking Brumbies flanker Rocky Elsom during Saturday's game at Loftus Versfeld.
But Judicial Officer Jannie Lubbe viewed tapes of the incident at a hearing in Pretoria on Monday and ruled the Springboks lock forward had cleared Elsom in a lawful manner.
Matfield will now be available for the Bulls' next Super 14 match against the Waratahs on Saturday.
