Bulls captain Victor Matfield has been cited for foul play following the defending Super 14 champions' 50-32 victory over the ACT Brumbies.

Matfield was charged on Sunday with striking Brumbies flanker Rocky Elsom around the head area in Saturday's match at Loftus Versfeld. The Springbok lock will appear before a disciplinary committee overseen by Super 14 ruling body SANZAR on Monday.

Waikato No.8 Sione Lauaki was banned for two weeks for an illegal lifting tackle on center Deon van Rensburg in the Chiefs' 72-65 win over the Lions on Friday.

Lauaki pleaded guilty and cannot play until March 7.

Lions lock Willem Stolz was suspended for one week for striking Chiefs hooker Aled de Malmanche in the face with his elbow.
