Taylor, Lang enjoy some Bunny bonding
South Sydney recruit Dave Taylor got more than he bargained for when he moved from Brisbane to Sydney this week.
In a total coincidence, his new coach at the Rabbitohs, John Lang, lives in the same Cronulla street.
"It was a surprise," Taylor told reporters on Wednesday.
"My fiancee moved down a few weeks ago and she rang me when I was in Brisbane and said John Lang came around to welcome us here.
"I said, 'That's nice of him'.
"She goes, 'He lives in our street'.
"That's going to be handy to get to training next year."
Powerhouse ex-Bronco Taylor, who was this week named in Australia's train-on squad, has joined Souths on a three-year deal.
He said Lang had popped down the street to reassure him in the wake of former Rabbitohs coach Jason Taylor's sacking.
"He came down and saw me the other day when I was unpacking," Dave Taylor said.
"It wasn't too long after the sad news of JT that he came and saw me so he wasn't thinking too much about his role as the coach, he was more worried about JT's spot.
"He was a bit disappointed in Jason Taylor's sacking so there wasn't too much talk going on about next year's footy.
"It was more of just a 'hello, how are you?' visit than a 'this is what I want from you next year' visit."
