Seasoned trio to umpire AFL grand final
AFL umpires boss Jeff Gieschen says football fans can have total confidence in the three field umpires selected for Saturday's grand final.
Stephen McBurney, Brett Rosebury and Sean Ryan, the men who will control the game, all have finals experience.
McBurney umpired the 2002-03 and 2007 grand finals and has officiated at a total of 311 games.
Rosebury, an All-Australian umpire for the past two years, is taking part in his first grand final while Ryan has umpired at 15 finals, including last year's grand final.
"We're really confident that the three guys we've appointed are ready to umpire well, are in great form and will do the job that we require," Gieschen said.
"They are something we don't give out cheaply, they have to be earned, they have to be based on their performances throughout the season so that when we get to this time of year we know we've got our best umpires."
Ray Chamberlain is the emergency field umpire, while Darren Wilson, Adam Coote, Mark Foster and Mark Thompson will be the boundary umpires.
The goal umpires for the grand final will be David Dixon and Mark Canning.
