Gieschen returns fire at Malthouse
AFL umpires manager Jeff Gieschen has fired back at Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse, following the Magpies' loss on Friday night to Brisbane.
After that match, Malthouse said he would speak to Gieschen, expressing bewilderment over some umpiring decisions during the two-point loss.
But Gieschen was not expressing too much sympathy for the veteran coach.
"To call on one or two things is always clutching at straws, I think," Gieschen said.
"When coaches go public and say this and that about umpires, it's never fantastic."
