No room for rivals at Saints-Cats match
Tickets for Sunday's AFL blockbuster between unbeaten St Kilda and Geelong are such hot items that even Western Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade has missed out.
Eade said he and some Bulldogs players wanted a firsthand look at the two teams above them on the ladder, but will have to watch on television instead.
Even his AFL life member status has not helped him.
"None of the AFL life members or 200-game members or legends can get tickets," Eade said on Wednesday.
"Coaches don't get a ticket, you get part of the club allocation for forward scouting.
"So that's the only ticket I'll be able to get, if the forward scouts don't go.
"We wanted to take a couple of players along, but we can't get them tickets so they can't go."
The AFL had toyed with moving the game from the 54,000-capacity Etihad Stadium to the MCG, which fits 100,000 fans, but deemed it too difficult.
A firsthand viewing would have been handy for Eade, whose side play both the Cats and Saints in the run home and are on track to meet one of them on the first weekend of the finals.
Asked for a tip, he diplomatically predicted a draw, before joking he just hoped there were injuries.
