Tigers smash Shellharbour in trial match
Taniela Tuiaki scored four tries as the Wests Tigers finished their 2009 pre-season with a comprehensive 70-4 trial victory over Shellharbour on Friday night.
Tigers coach Tim Sheens will be pleased with the performance going into next week's NRL round one clash against Canberra, with the full-strength side coming through the match unscathed.
The Tigers ran in 13 tries to one in front of over 4,500 fans at Ron Costello Oval, with halfback Benji Marshall booting nine goals in the process.
Tuiaki opened the scoring in the fifth minute when he combined with centre Chris Lawrence to begin his spree.
The Kiwi international grabbed a second midway through the first half before notching his best of the night five minutes later when he beat three defenders from 20m out to score.
The 26-year-old capped off his night's work when got on the end of a Marshall grubber halfway through the second term to make the score 62-0.
Tuiaki wasn't the only multiple try-scorer for the Tigers, with fullback Tim Moltzen grabbing a triple while centre Dean Collis and under-20s winger Junior Roqica scored doubles.
The only hiccup on the night for the Tigers was when the opening 10 minutes were played in near-darkness following a power failure.
St George Illawarra forward Neville Costigan grabbed the sole try for the hosts in the 70th minute.
