Jones dismisses team's $10m Giteau offer
Former Wallabies coach Eddie Jones has shot down reports of his former charge Matt Giteau being offered a four-year deal worth almost $10 million by French club Bayonne.
Jones, who is currently working for English club Saracens, said the deal for the superstar was not nearly as much as had been reported.
"It is not that much mate, they have their figures wrong. There must be something wrong with those conversion charts in Australia," he told Sydney radio station 2KY.
"My understanding is it is about $1.2 million a year over three years, so it is about $3.6 million. That is good money but nothing like what they are talking about."
Giteau is currently considering his options but is believed to be leaning towards staying put.
If he does opt to stay in Australia, he still has to decide whether to stick with the Western Force or head back to his original Super team, the ACT Brumbies for the 2009 season.
