Gasnier marks debut with decisive try
Mark Gasnier has made an immediate impact in rugby union by scoring the decisive try in French giants Stade Francais's 32-25 win over Bourgoin.
The former NRL superstar paid an early dividend for the faith shown in him by coach Ewen McKenzie and earned praise from Stade Francais assistant coach Christophe Dominici.
"He knew where to put himself," said the former Stade and France wing wizard of the former St George Illawarra player.
"He tried to unearth the gaps and he was really involved in some of the moves.
"That was impressive because it is not easy to move from league to union.
"This proves he has the talent and the quality."
Victory gives Stade - who appear refreshed after a couple of poor seasons under former French captain Fabien Galthie - a lead of nine points over second-placed Perpignan, though they play Toulouse on Saturday.
