Sharks confident Anderson will play
Cronulla are hoping their stingy defence will ensure Saturday's NRL qualifying final match-up with Canberra doesn't turn into a track meet.
The Raiders have earned the reputation of the NRL's new entertainers following some thrilling attacking performances in their Cinderella run to the finals.
Last weekend they put 52 points on wooden spooners the Bulldogs, while they have also racked up totals of 58 and 46 recently as well as a 74-12 thumping of Penrith in round 22.
The Sharks, on the other hand, have struggled at different stages this year in putting points on the board, their third-placed finish more a result of the league's fourth-best defensive record.
Asked if he thought the Sharks could go point-for-point with the green machine, Kimmorley said: "I'd like to hope our defence means that they don't score 30-40," Kimmorley said.
"Our defence hopefully gives us a lot of confidence ... maybe we (only) need to score three or four tries to win.
"I don't know if we can match it, it's about making sure that we take our chances and execute really well ... over the last month we've scored off plays we should have scored off."
Over the past three weeks the Sharks have outscored their opponents by a combined 80-28, including a 20-0 shutout of fellow top four side Sydney Roosters.
The Sharks have come under fire for being too predictable throughout 2008, with the high ball for edges the popular option on the last tackle.
But Kimmorley, who is approaching his last games in a Sharks jersey ahead of his move to the Bulldogs next season, said he felt things were coming together.
"I think our attack's come good the last few weeks," he said.
"We probably were not a great attacking side there for a while but I think over the last month when we've had to prepare for the semis and flick a switch we have."
Meanwhile, Cronulla officials are confident a knee injury will not stop backrower Fraser Anderson from taking on the Raiders at Toyota Stadium.
Anderson picked up a strain in last weekend's win over North Queensland and sat out much of Tuesday's training session with his left knee sporting an ice pack.
