Schalk Burger to miss rest of Super 14
The Stormers' Super 14 rugby campaign has suffered a body blow with rugged Springboks flanker Schalk Burger ruled out of the remainder of the championship with injury.
Burger's involvement with the Springboks could also be affected after he suffered knee ligament during the 26-16 defeat of the Highlanders in Cape Town on Sunday morning.
Stormers coach Rassie Erasmus said Burger would be sidelined for at least six weeks.
It is a setback for the team, who have won five of their last six matches to climb to sixth place and now play Australia's Brumbies and NSW Waratahs in Cape Town in the next two rounds.
Burger, 25, joins winger Tonderai Chavhanga and prop JD Moller on the injured list for the rest of the competition while doubt also surrounds veteran New Zealand five-eighth Tony Brown.
Brown also left the field against his old side the Highlanders with a rib injury that could sideline him in the lead-up to the semifinals.
Burger could miss Wales' two-Test tour of South Africa, with tests on June 7 and 14 in Bloemfontein and Pretoria.
