Wallace questions AFL day games in Perth
Richmond coach Terry Wallace has called for the AFL not to schedule day games in Perth in the early rounds of future AFL seasons.
The Tigers thrashed Fremantle at Subiaco last Sunday in a match played in temperatures above 30 degrees.
Wallace questioned the wisdom of the fixturing in the lead-up to Sunday's match against the Western Bulldogs.
Afterwards, he suggested it might have played a part in Richmond giving up three late goals to allow the Western Bulldogs to draw the match.
"I thought our guys ran out a little bit of legs," Wallace said.
"We came back off a 30-degree game in Perth, with the fixturing.
"I'm not looking for excuses or anything like that, but I think Saturday night games over in Perth early in the season would be better."
Wallace said his side arrived home from Perth at 1.30am (AEST) Monday morning, while the Bulldogs had a significantly longer break, having played Essendon last Friday night.
"I think they were probably fractionally or marginally fresher than us, but that's a learning experience for our guys too," he said.
