Sri Lanka romp to victory over Ireland
Sri Lanka romped to an eight-wicket win over Ireland on Wednesday in the World Cup Super Eights after dismissing their opponents for 77, the lowest score of the tournament.
Farveez Maharoof took four for 25 from 10 overs and Muttiah Muralitharan grabbed four for 19 from five as Ireland succumbed in 27.4 overs.
The previous lowest score was Bermuda's 78, also against Sri Lanka, in the group stages.
Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene scored 39 not out as Sri Lanka reached their target in 10 overs.
