Webb returns to Slam scene
Australia's Karrie Webb will return to the scene of one of her greatest triumphs this week as she tries to recapture her best form in the second major of the women's season.
The McDonald's LPGA Championship starts on Thursday at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware.
Webb won the title two years ago to complete a career Grand Slam, and has tallied six majors in her eight-year career on the LPGA Tour in America.
However, the 28-year-old from Ayr in Queensland is at No.10 on this season's money list, and hasn't won a tournament since she collected her sixth major, the British Open, at Turnberry in Scotland last August.
Webb has been working on changes to her swing, while she has also hinted that her level of motivation is not what it once was.
"I've just not been so consistent this year," Webb said.
"The swing feels great on the range, but I've not always been able to take it onto the course. I've also thrown in the odd high number and you can't do that and expect to win out here."
While Sweden's Annika Sorenstam, who took over the world No.1 ranking from Webb two years ago, has embarked on a severe fitness programme and worked tirelessly to improve her game, Webb said she wanted to have a life outside golf.
"I enjoy fishing, sailing and getting away from it all," said Webb, who resides at Boynton Beach on Florida's east coast.
"I do work hard on my game, but I've already achieved so much more that I ever thought I would and I'm not the best at setting goals."
