Davis ready to wow Swans fans
Prize recruit Nick Davis estimates he can improve by another 30 per cent for a Sydney Swans' side which will receive a boost in all departments heading into Saturday's AFL clash with Richmond.
Sydney coach Paul Roos said barring unforeseen accidents, back Jason Saddington, midfielder Daryn Cresswell and forward Michael O'Loughlin would all return from injury and play at the MCG this weekend.
Former Collingwood forward Davis, who has also spent time in the Swans' midfield this year, has kicked 13 goals in his first nine games for Sydney.
The skillful forward stressed the Sydney public hadn't seen him at his best because he was still working up to full fitness after groin surgery sidelined him for much of the pre-season.
"On my best form in 2001, I'm probably going about 70 per cent of that," Davis said today.
"I'm excited, I think in the next few weeks I can really step it up and show the Sydney people what sort of game I can play."
Davis admitted to being surprised by the pressure of being the new kid on the Sydney block.
"Coming up here I knew that Sydney would be a little bit different and (thought) there wouldn't be a lot of pressure, but I sort of got found out and there was a little bit of pressure put on me being the new recruit," Davis said.
"But I'm used to it at Collingwood, having to put up with pressure so it's not too bad and now I'm getting back in and getting a little bit of form under my belt. It's feeling a bit easier up here."
Back at the family home in Sydney, Davis said his weight and skin fold levels were going down and his fitness up after he put on a little extra weight.
