Vitesse fight back to beat Ajax 4-2
Mid-table Vitesse Arnhem hit four second half goals in a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down to score a stunning 4-2 win over 10-men Ajax Amsterdam in the Dutch league on Sunday.
Ajax took the lead after three minutes when Zdenek Grygera nodded in a cross from Tom de Mul, who made it 2-0 10 minutes before the interval.
Early in the second Danko Lazovic pulled one back for Vitesse and then set up Mads Junker for the equaliser seconds later.
With 20 minutes remaining Ajax were reduced to 10 men after Gabri's dismissal. In the final minute of normal time, Fred Benson struck from close range and Youssouf Hersi added a fourth on the counter attack in injury time.
PSV Eindhoven remain top with 49 points from 18 matches following a 4-0 win over Willem II Tilburg on Saturday. Ajax are third with 38 points, two behind AZ Alkmaar who were held 0-0 at home by NEC Nijmegen.
Alkmaar dominated but could not make the breakthrough, wasting a second-half penalty when Gabor Babos saved from Danny Koevermans.
Twente Enschede remain fourth with 35 points despite a 2-0 defeat at Roda JC Kerkrade. Feyenoord also have 35 points after their 3-2 victory over local rivals Sparta.
Dieter van Tornhout hit a first half double to end Twente's unbeaten run of eight matches. Twente finished with 10 men after a double booking for Jeroen Heubach.
Lowly RKC Waalwijk drew 1-1 at home to Utrecht, Tom Caluwe earning a point for the visitors after Robert Fuchs had scored for RKC.
