Teams quit WA rally in respect for Brock
The three manufacturer teams in the Targa West road rally - Subaru, Mitsubishi Ralliart and Mini - have withdrawn from the event as a mark of respect to Peter Brock.
Racing legend Brock was killed when his car hit a tree while competing in the rally near Perth.
Subaru was fielding an Impreza WRX driven by home-town rally ace Dean Herridge with former detective Bill Hayes as co-driver.
Mitsubishi Ralliart had entered an Evolution IX Lancer driven by Sydney yachtsman and car racer Warwick Rooklyn with Linda Long, also of Sydney, as his co-driver.
Two Mini Coopers were in the field too.
Channel 7 personality Grant Denyer was driving one with Australian champion co-driver Dale Moscatt, while motoring journalist Mike Sinclair was driving the other with Justin Hunt as co-driver.
The Subaru and Mitsubishi were the fastest cars in the 4.9km prologue to decide the starting order for the 85-car field.
