Hindmarsh expected to face Dragons
Parramatta backrower Nathan Hindmarsh is expected to overcome an ankle injury in time for Friday night's NRL blockbuster against St George Illawarra at Parramatta Stadium.
Hindmarsh sustained the injury in the dying stages of the Eels' 31-18 victory over Manly on Saturday night, sparking fears he could join fellow forwards Aaron Cannings, Adam Peek, Michael Vella and Justin Tsoulos in the casualty ward.
Eels coach Jason Taylor feared the worst after the match.
"Hindy hurt his ankle with about two minutes to go," Taylor said.
"They thought he was OK, but I just said to him 'is it alright?' and he said he wasn't sure.
"It's a bit of a worry but hopefully that's fine."
However an Eels spokesperson has indicated the injury wasn't as bad as first feared and that the Test backrower would undergo scans only if he was in discomfort.
Peek, who is recovering from a cheekbone injury, was initially ruled out for the season but indicated a comeback may be possible if the Eels make the finals.
