Ricky Stuart's Blues proved themselves to be one of the great NSW sides after demolishing Queensland 32-10 in the State of Origin series decider at Suncorp Stadium.

Former garbage collector Matt King was on cloud nine after joining an elite band of eight players - three from NSW - to have bagged a hat-trick of tries in an Origin game.

It was blue murder - a night most of the 52,496 fans will want to forget as the Blues notched their biggest ever Origin victory on Queensland soil.

Only one previous NSW side - the 1994 Phil Gould-Laurie Daley outfit - had fought back from 1-0 down after losing the opening game to win the series.

It puts NSW up 12 series to 10 and gives them a 37-36 edge in head-to-head in the 25th anniversary year.

Again the destroyer was champion halfback Andrew Johns.

Johns, who overcame a knee scare early in the game, followed up his sublime second game effort in Sydney with another command performance that surely must have buried critics who have hedged at putting him in the same class as Wally Lewis.

"It's a great feeling," said Johns who kicked three goals as well setting up most of the NSW tries.

"We were always very confident going into the game.

"I really enjoy being out here, it's what footy is all about."
