Hewitt cracks ribs
Lleyton Hewitt has cracked two ribs and is in doubt for the French Open tennis tournament that starts in 12 days.
Hewitt on Tuesday night withdrew from next week's World Team Cup in Germany, where he was to lead the Australian team, according to News Limited.
He damaged his ribs on Monday in a fall at his home in Palm Beach, Sydney.
The South Australian had been preparing to return to competition after recent toe surgery.
"It is an unfortunate mishap and very disappointing," his manager, Roger Rasheed, told News Limited.
"We will do our best to be ready for the French Open."
Hewitt made the quarter-finals there last year and failure to protect those ranking points could affect his hopes to be seeded No.2 for Wimbledon.
