Hayden looks to muzzle Fido
Fremantle defender Roger Hayden is set to renew his growing rivalry with West Coast goalsneak Phil Matera in Saturday night's match at Subiaco Oval.
The 23-year-old Hayden has been one of the few players to contain the lethal forward in the past two seasons.
The diminutive Matera is third on the AFL's goalkicking list with 60 goals this season from just 17 matches.
But Hayden has lowered Matera's colours in their past two outings in the Dockers' win in round 15 last year and the Eagles' win in round five this season.
Hayden had plenty of incentive in keeping Matera to just one goal in last year's encounter after Dockers coach Chris Connolly told him before hand he was playing for his career.
Matera kicked two goals against the promising stopper earlier this year but he did not have his usual impact on the game.
Hayden is an excellent match-up on Matera with his speed and ability not to over-commit against the feisty forward.
Shane Parker, who would be the next option if Matera gets the better of Hayden, missed Wednesday's training with the flu.
Tireless midfielder Troy Cook and underperforming forward Trent Croad were resting with ankle injuries.
The Dockers were confident the trio would be available for selection this weekend.
