Pakistan legspinner Danish Kaneria has been fined his entire match fee - understood to be about $2,o00 - for abusing Michael Clarke in the third cricket Test at the SCG.

The 24-year-old tweaker gave Clarke a crude two-word send-off after having the right-hander stumped for 35.

However, Australian captain Ricky Ponting said he was unaware of Danish's colourful language despite being at the non-striker's end as Clarke departed.

"I was totally unaware of it," he said.

Danish was reported by all three officiating umpires in Billy Bowden, David Shepherd and Steve Davis for the offence.

The Karachi spinner breached section 2.9 of the International Cricket Council's code of conduct which doesn't allow players to use "language that is obscene, offensive or of a generally insulting nature".

The disciplinary hearing took his previous indiscretions into account and he was handed a severe reprimand for his actions.

It was a costly end to the day for Danish who had already committed 25 per cent of his match fee to the victims of last week's tsunami disaster in Asia.

Danish had carried his team's bowling attack by picking up 3-106 off 30 overs as Australia romped to 4-340 for a first innings lead of 36 at the end of day two.
