Becks starts on the right for Real
Real Madrid's new superstar signing David Beckham got the nod at right flank for a short practice match, dislodging standout Portuguese midfielder Luis Figo from his favourite position.
Beckham played on the right of midfield during a 60-minute game between Real A and Real B, with Figo taking the left side in Real's first public game in China.
Despite the switch, the Portuguese international seemed unperturbed as he scored one goal and created another before resting in the second half.
Beckham's high profile transfer from Manchester United has sparked speculation that the two would be forced to fight it out for the right to play on the right-hand side of midfield -- both player's favoured position.
While Real has yet to face any proper opponents in this pre-season tour of Asia that kicked off last week in China, coach Carlos Queiroz has suggested that Figo, who is considered more versatile than Beckham, may move to the left side permanently.
The 30-year-old last occupied that position for Portugal's youth team when Queiroz was coach.
Figo earlier this week said he would play wherever he was needed.
Real Madrid will be in the southwestern city of Kunming for two more days before they face a Chinese all-star side on August 2 in Beijing.
