Schifcofske omission astounding: Elliott
Canberra fullback Clinton Schifcofske won't be letting his latest State of Origin disappointment get him down.
The 28-year-old, overlooked for a preliminary 22-man Queensland squad named for this year's Origin series, admitted he was disappointed by his omission.
But after a frustrating two-year wait for Maroons selectors to come knocking, Schifcofske isn't ready to give up on his Origin dream just yet.
"It's disappointing but that's the way it goes," he said.
"There's no use kicking stones over it.
"They've picked this squad before and blokes have made it from outside this squad.
"I have a couple of weeks and we play Brisbane and a couple of top sides."
But it's going to take something pretty special for Schifcofske to leap the three fullbacks named in the squad - Penrith's Rhys Wesser, Melbourne's Billy Slater and North Queensland's Matthew Bowen.
"I am ready to play if I am good enough and get picked," Schifcofske said.
"There's only two blokes who I look to for advice - that's my dad and my coach (Matthew Elliott).
