Nielsen stays with Melbourne Storm
Melbourne have moved to fill the gaping hole left by the departure of superstar Greg Inglis by re-signing Dane Nielsen.
The 25-year-old centre looked a likely fall guy when Inglis was contemplating staying with the Storm, however his switch to Brisbane this week freed up enough money to keep Nielsen at the club for a further two years.
Chief executive Ron Gauci announced that through the loss of Inglis and Test forward Brett White, to Canberra, Melbourne would be under the salary cap for 2011.
Queenslander Nielsen played a season with the Sharks in 2007, and they along with the Bulldogs, Warriors as well as Super 15 rugby side the Western Force, were interested in signing him for next season.
The Storm also announced on Friday they had re-signed backup hooker/five-eighth Rory Kostjasyn for a further two years.
