Warriors' Luck out for up to 8 weeks
ZPA - Warriors lock Micheal Luck was relieved to learn he would get to play in the NRL again this season, even though he's set to miss up to eight weeks.
Luck's knee injury suffered in Sunday's 26-22 loss to Wests Tigers in Auckland has been diagnosed as a partially dislocated patella.
He struggled on briefly with the injury and made several more tackles before going off, and initial fears were that the injury could be a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament tear.
However, team doctor John Mayhew said the results from scans today were encouraging.
"The good news is there's no sign of serious ligament damage on the MRI scan and there's no apparent need for surgery," Mayhew said.
Luck was glad to get the diagnosis.
"Thankfully it's not a worst-case scenario," he said.
"I now have the chance of getting into the rehab program and I'm aiming to be back playing soon."
Luck said he didn't know what to expect when he went down.
"I've never had a serious knee injury before so it's a relief the news is better than it could have been," he said.
The setback denies Luck, 29, the chance of returning to Townsville to play against his former club North Queensland on Saturday night.
He made 76 appearances for the Cowboys before moving across the Tasman before at the start of the 2006 season and has since played 131 matches for the Warriors.
