Lang hits back at cheap shots
Angry South Sydney coach John Lang has taken aim at what he calls "cheap shots" from critics of his NRL side.
The Rabbitohs' breakthrough 32-18 win over Parramatta on Friday night came after plenty of questions about their losses in the opening two rounds, particularly about big gun Greg Inglis.
Lang said the barbs had gone too far, singling out a report that claimed their was infighting among the Souths players.
"There were articles there and things said that were untrue and I think were mischievous," he said.
"I don't mind criticism but I don't like people coming up with things that are incorrect.
"There's a great feeling amongst these boys and I think it's very poor journalism, it's cheap shots to try and make out something that's not there."
Captain Roy Asotasi agreed, saying the side had rallied after the bad press.
"We lost two games and it was only round two and it felt like it was the end of the season," he said.
"We were confident in our ability to come back, we knew it was only two losses and we had 22 games to go and it started tonight."
Inglis rubbished suggestions the side was imploding after losses to the Sydney Roosters and Canterbury.
"Apparently we were arguing at training and all this stuff," he said.
"That's entirely untrue."
The pressure is off Souths, for a week at least.
They take on Manly next Friday night at Gosford's Bluetongue Stadium.
