Beale brilliance firing veterans
Kurtley Beale's brilliance is giving the Wallabies' veterans a new lease of life.
Beale put in a man-of-the-match performance against Wales on Saturday and - with fellow young guns Quade Cooper, James O'Connor, Will Genia and David Pocock - is inspiring his more experienced team-mates who can see Australia's rugby stocks rising.
"It's infectious, any sort of positive vibe's infectious," winger Drew Mitchell said.
"With these guys coming in with a lot of enthusiasm and spark, hopefully it rubs off on everyone.
"If us older guys can tap into it a little bit then hopefully we can still come up with something every now and then as well."
Mitchell was a mentor to Beale at the NSW Waratahs this year and has watched with satisfaction as the clumsy kid has become the sublime athlete since shedding some kilos and shifting from five-eighth to fullback.
"I think he really found his feet at fullback towards the back end of the year with the Waratahs," Mitchell said.
"With that came a lot of confidence and you can see it with the way he's playing now.
"He's playing with a lot of confidence and very instinctively but you love that.
"Everyone around him thrives off his enthusiasm."
The 21-year-old came within one of his Mo-vember whiskers of scoring one of the great Test tries at Millennium Stadium, flying to take his own high kick, kicking ahead and just losing control as he rolled towards the tryline with the ball.
"I turned to Quade during the Welsh Test, the try that almost happened with Kurtley," Mitchell said.
"You could only look at one another and laugh at how he came up with even just getting himself in the position to potentially come up with a try like that.
