Hadley retires from AFL
Carlton midfielder Richard Hadley has joined Geelong's Max Rooke in retiring from the AFL this week because of injury.
Hadley, 27, only managed eight games this season for a career total of 66.
He was a member of Brisbane's 2003 premiership team and played 41 games for the Lions before joining the Blues in 2008, featuring in 25 games in three seasons with Carlton.
Rooke retired on Wednesday because of a persistent knee injury.
Hadley missed the 2005 and `06 seasons because of two knee reconstructions.
"While the injuries have been very disappointing and frustrating I will always cherish being a member of an AFL premiership side and appreciate how fortunate I am to have had the opportunity to be a part of this," Hadley said.
"I know I will really miss the friendships that have been formed and being a part of the team but believe it is the right time for me to retire from the game.
"I want to thank Carlton and Brisbane for giving me the opportunity to play and in particular my team-mates for the support and friendship they have given to me over the last ten years."
Also on Thursday, Richmond announced six delistings, including Jordan McMahon.
The other axings were Dean Polo, Tom Hislop, Adam Thomson, Relton Roberts and rookie Alroy Gilligan.
McMahon played 148 senior games with the Western Bulldogs and Richmond, but did not manage any AFL matches this season.
